- Executive Officer's Opinion piece '... As each month goes by there are more and more opportunities for using biomass and organic residues to replace fossil fuels. This occurs as more and more business gain confidence in transitioning to fully renewable sustainable biofuels where they can manage future energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and become more in control of future energy supply.
The announcement this week by Genesis Energy and Fonterra that they are working together to investigate replacing coal with biomass in the Huntly Power Station and large milk processing facilities, is just another demonstration of how by transitioning from current practices we open up new business opportunities, create new employment and get better value from low grade logs which otherwise would be exported...'
