Large boilers have an economic life of around 30 years, while smaller heating equipment may have an economic life of only around 10 years. To compare the investment options on a like-for-like basis requires a lifecycle analysis over the analytical period of say 30 years. This results in a levelised cost of energy from each option. The bioenergy option often has least life-cycle cost but is a long term investment...'
