Executive Officer's Opinion piece '...Bioenergy and biofuels are now recognised in the energy market as being main stream sources of heat, and a replacement of natural gas. This has occurred only a decade after solid biofuels began being significantly traded to heat producers who do not have their own sources of biomass. We are now entering an era when the biofuels supply market is expanding to meet a fast growing demand.

The wood industries sector has established a transformation plan which amongst other things is aimed at ensuring that there is adequate biomass residues available in the right places and at an appropriate price. The gas sector has also been developing a Gas Transformation Plan so that adequate quantities of biogas is produced to replace natural gas...'
