Firstgas Group leads the delivery of natural gas and LPG in New Zealand. As responsible stewards of our gas distribution and transmission networks, we support a diverse and resilient energy system, serving more than 300,000 customers across the North Island and more than 100,000 customers using Rockgas LPG nationwide. Firstgas owns and operates more than 2,500 kms of high-pressure gas transmission pipelines and stations that are essential to supplying natural gas to large industrial consumers and 4,800kms of gas distribution networks, across the North Island. Rockgas delivers LPG from nine branches and a network of 27 franchises and can also pipe LPG straight to some customers through its reticulated gas network in the lower South Island. Flexgas owns and operates the Ahuroa gas storage facility and NZ Gas Services provides expert maintenance services across the gas industry.
Firstgas Group is committed to helping NZ move towards net zero emissions by 2050. We are leading research into the role of gas in decarbonising our energy system. We currently are currently supporting moves to grow the development of biogas and want to make it as easy as possible to inject biomethane into our network.
