Paraparaumu Waste Water Treatment Plant saves thousands of dollars by switching from diesel to wood fuel - owned and operated by Kapiti Coast DC, the treatment plant was spending around $575,000 a year on diesel to power the boiler integral to the sludge drying process. The Council commissioned a specialist green energy solution company to provide a detailed cost analysis of the pros and cons of converting a wood based system.
