Characteristics of Digestate from Various Ontario Anaerobic Digester Systems

Ontario research assists NZ understand the safe application of AD digestate to land.

In June 2024 the Bioenergy Association Biofertiliser Certification Project Team meet with Canadian Biogas Association and officials from Ontario. 

Anaerobic digestate is land applied in Ontario as a beneficial nutrient amendment; it supports soil health and crop growth. They explained the results of their research focused on science gaps – to better characterise the quality of digestates applied in Ontario. Their research aims to better inform management practices for recycled organic residuals in Ontario.
