Information Sheet 63: New Zealand Emissions Reduction Plan 2022-25 - Bioenergy and Biofuels

New Zealand is using a system of emissions budgets to meet its 2050 target.  The Government published the first three emissions budgets (2022–2025, 2026–2030, 2031–2035) in May 2022. The Emissions Reduction Plan setting out policies and strategies for meeting emissions budgets was published on 16 May 2022. The Emissions Reduction Plan contains strategies, policies, and actions for achieving the first emissions budget, as required by the Climate Change Response Act 2002.

The Emissions Reduction Plan is supported by a Technical Information Annex and a Table of Actions.

This Information Sheet provides a summary of the Emission Reduction Plan actions relating to future growth of the bioenergy and biofuels sector.
