This paper summarises the development, construction and commissioning of the food residuals to energy plant located in Camellia, Sydney, Australia. The facility was commissioned in 2003 and is designed to process 82,000 tonnes/annum of source segregated “pre-consumer” food waste and industrial sludges/flotation foams to dried fertiliser, liquid fertiliser concentrate, electricity and treated water on a footprint of less than 1.5 ha (AGGO 2004, EarthPower Technologies Sydney 1999; Thiele 2000 a,b).
