In its Emissions Reduction Plan the Government has proposed that New Zealand transition to be a circular bioeconomy.
By 2050, Aotearoa New Zealand will have a circular economy with a thriving bioeconomy that seizes the opportunities from global trends and shifting consumer preferences.
Bioenergy provides an economic foundation for this transition and a key benefit is the greenhouse gas emissions reduction which occurs immediately a bioenergy solution is implemented. New Zealand is a member of the IEA Bioenergy programme and this provides access to the world’s best bioenergy researchers.
In this webinar, Paul outlined the work of IEA Bioenergy and showed how we can better use this tool to faster progress the transition to a circular bioeconomy. The next phase of the transition will require an increase in our knowledge base and the adaptation of international science to our biomass resources and their integration with wise land use.
