Technical Guide 06: Contracting to deliver quality wood fuel to customers
This Guide was developed to assist the sellers and purchasers of solid biofuels trade and contract these materials for the production of energy.
The Guide summarises information from recent experience of wood fuel supply negotiations that will assist buyers and sellers conclude successful contracts. The Guide includes a model contract and provides information on suggestions on how to provide assurance to heat plant facility owners that they are getting the right fuel for their plant. This includes suggestions on appropriate sampling and testing of delivered product to ensure that contract conditions are met.
This guide provides technical information on the various aspects that should be taken into account when considering and preparing a contract for the supply and use of solid biofuels. The Guide suggests that wood fuel be sold on an energy basis rather than volume or weight so sets out how to cost effectively calculate the energy component.
